The Donna ISD District Art Exhibit, presented by Donna High School and Donna North High School, featured an impressive collection of student artwork showcasing creativity, technical skill, and artistic expression across a wide array of styles and mediums. From sculptures and mixed media pieces to detailed drawings, paintings, and digital art, the exhibit highlighted the incredible talent and dedication of Donna ISD student artists. A great first exhibit and the beginning of many more to come.

Summer is right around the corner, and Donna ISD is excited to partner with Rice University to offer a free Math Summer Camp for current 6th–9th grade students. Students will take part in engaging activities that connect math to real-world learning experiences, including a field trip to the UTRGV Planetarium. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided each day, all camp materials will be included, and students will also have opportunities to win daily prizes throughout the camp. Students needing a full-day schedule may continue their day through the ACE program following camp hours. Space is limited and registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Donna ISD looks forward to providing students with a summer experience filled with learning, exploration, and opportunities to grow.

As the final week of the 2025–2026 school year begins, Donna ISD thanks every student, parent, staff member, and community partner for a year filled with growth, laughter, achievements, and unforgettable memories. From classrooms and concerts to games, competitions, performances, and graduations, this school year was made special by the people who filled it with heart each day. Donna ISD is proud of every student and grateful for every family and staff member who helped make this year so meaningful. Congratulations to Karen Nieto of Lenoir Elementary and Maria Hinojosa of Salinas STEAM Academy on being selected to participate in the prestigious Holdsworth Center Campus Leadership Program, a statewide leadership development program that provides principals and campus leadership teams with executive coaching, professional learning experiences, collaboration opportunities, and real-world leadership training designed to support student success and continued campus growth. Their selection highlights a continued commitment to leadership, professional growth, and supporting strong learning environments for students and staff across Donna ISD.

National Police Week is observed each May to honor and recognize law enforcement officers across the country for their service and sacrifice. Donna ISD recognizes and thanks the officers of Donna ISD PD for their commitment, dedication, and daily efforts to help keep our schools and community safe.

Donna ISD invites families and the community to join us for the Annual Biliteracy Celebration: Raíces Fuertes, Bright Futures on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the J.P. LeNoir Elementary Track. The event celebrates the impact of Donna ISD’s bilingual and dual language programs, where students build strong academic foundations while becoming bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate. Families can enjoy student performances, carnival rides, fun activities, community booths, free books, food, and more.

The 5th Annual Donna ISD Elementary Games brought two exciting days of competition, energy, and school spirit. On May 5 and 6, elementary students competed in events including the standing broad jump, agility cones, softball throw, tug-of-war, sprints, and relay races.

With great weather and strong support from the stands, students enjoyed every moment of the games. Thank you to the coaches, chaperones, administrators, and staff who helped make the event a success, and to the Donna ISD families who came out to cheer on their students. Your support made the event even more special.

J.S. Adame Fine Arts Academy delivered a phenomenal first run-through of Alice in Wonderland the musical yesterday in front of the Adame student body. The performances, energy, music, and talent on stage have created excitement for an incredible show.

Donna High School celebrated our students at the College Ready Rally, recognizing 290 students who are TSI complete and ready to take the next step. Being TSI complete means students have met college readiness standards in reading, writing, and math, opening the door to college-level coursework and showing they are prepared for success after graduation. Their commitment, focus, and determination were clear throughout the rally. This achievement is well deserved and hard earned as they continue progressing toward graduating every student college, career, or military ready.

Congratulations to Lauren De La Garza from Donna High School on advancing to the regional meet for the second consecutive year. She earned a 2nd place finish in Discus and placed 4th in Shot Put, continuing to compete at a high level in both events. She will represent Donna ISD at the 5A Regional Meet at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio on May 1–2. We wish her the very best as she takes this next step and competes at the regional level.
