Board of Trustees for their leadership, dedication, and continued support of our students and schools.

One of the many opportunities made possible through their vision is the Adame Fine Arts Academy, which is now open and thriving. Donna Independent School District proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Early Childhood Wing at Daniel Singleterry Elementary on January 8, 2026, marking an important milestone for the district and its commitment to young learners.

This project represents the first completed building initiative from the 2023 Bond and was delivered ahead of schedule. Designed with early childhood education at the forefront, the new wing emphasizes the importance of building a strong foundation for learning during a child’s earliest years. The space provides students with thoughtfully designed classrooms, enhanced resources, and a welcoming environment that supports growth, curiosity, and development.

The completion of this project is part of a broader districtwide effort to enhance learning spaces across Donna ISD. Several additional projects are nearing completion, including Early Childhood Wings at Salazar Elementary and Garza Elementary, as well as a new wing at Donna North High School. Construction is also underway on new gyms and band halls at Solis Middle School and Todd Middle School, along with a new cafeteria at Donna High School.

In addition to instructional improvements, Donna ISD has completed several safety upgrades across campuses. These include vestibule enhancements and parking lot upgrades that further support safe and secure learning environments for students and staff.

The January 8 ribbon cutting marks a significant moment for Donna ISD as the district continues to invest in facilities that support student success. The district extends its gratitude to the Donna ISD Board of Trustees and the community for their continued support and commitment to the future of Donna ISD and its students.

Student Achievement Spotlight

At Donna ISD, our number one student outcome is to graduate all students, per their expected graduation date, ready for college, career, or the military. We are proud to recognize students from Donna North High School and Donna High School who recently demonstrated the highest performance levels on the TSIA2 ELAR and WritePlacer exams.

Several students earned scores in the upper range of the assessment, showcasing strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. These results reflect rigorous academic preparation and clear indicators of college readiness.

Why TSIA2 Matters

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) measures a student’s readiness for college-level coursework. Strong performance on the ELAR and WritePlacer portions confirms students are prepared for college English courses, helping accelerate their path toward a degree.

We are proud of our students for this achievement and for continuing to advance academic excellence at Donna ISD.

Superintendent Dr. Angela Dominguez recently visited our Transportation Department and was also interviewed by Channel 5 News to highlight the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our district moving every day.

We’re especially excited as the department prepares to roll out the Transfinder program. With real-time GPS tracking, this system will enhance safety and communication by allowing parents, drivers, and campuses to view estimated arrival times and transportation updates.

A big shout-out to our Transportation Department for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to student safety. We appreciate all you do for Donna ISD.

Our transportation team truly never sleeps from early mornings and late nights to weekends, field trips, athletic events, and long routes always working to ensure our students get home safely.

Donna ISD is proud to celebrate an extraordinary national achievement by students from Donna North High School’s Veterinary Science program. Isabella Arevalo, Kate Montiel, and Samara Patiño earned National Champion honors in the Career Pathways competition at the SkillsUSA Nationals, held June 23–27, 2025, in Atlanta.

The team’s award winning project focused on Spay, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Microchip clinics, an initiative designed to promote animal welfare while addressing real needs within the community. The project emphasized responsible pet ownership, public education, and access to essential veterinary services. Judges recognized the work for its research, practical application, and meaningful community impact.

This accomplishment reflects the broader efforts of the Donna North Veterinary Science program, where students engage in hands on learning and service driven projects connected to real world issues. In addition to their national competition success, Veterinary Science students from Donna North also extended their work into civic engagement earlier this year through a visit to the Texas Capitol. During this visit, students met with members of the Texas Legislature to share their project, discuss animal welfare initiatives, and learn how legislation can support public health and community based solutions.

Throughout both the national competition and their legislative advocacy efforts, Donna North Veterinary Science students demonstrated professionalism, collaboration, and leadership while representing Donna ISD at the state and national levels. Their success reflects the dedication of their instructors and the district’s commitment to high quality Career and Technical Education programs.

Donna ISD congratulates the Donna North Veterinary Science students, their teachers, and campus leadership on this outstanding achievement. Their National Championship and continued advocacy efforts highlight how student driven learning and service can create lasting impact for both students and the community they serve.
