Donna ISD is proud to celebrate an extraordinary national achievement by students from Donna North High School’s Veterinary Science program. Isabella Arevalo, Kate Montiel, and Samara Patiño earned National Champion honors in the Career Pathways competition at the SkillsUSA Nationals, held June 23–27, 2025, in Atlanta.
The team’s award winning project focused on Spay, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Microchip clinics, an initiative designed to promote animal welfare while addressing real needs within the community. The project emphasized responsible pet ownership, public education, and access to essential veterinary services. Judges recognized the work for its research, practical application, and meaningful community impact.
This accomplishment reflects the broader efforts of the Donna North Veterinary Science program, where students engage in hands on learning and service driven projects connected to real world issues. In addition to their national competition success, Veterinary Science students from Donna North also extended their work into civic engagement earlier this year through a visit to the Texas Capitol. During this visit, students met with members of the Texas Legislature to share their project, discuss animal welfare initiatives, and learn how legislation can support public health and community based solutions.
Throughout both the national competition and their legislative advocacy efforts, Donna North Veterinary Science students demonstrated professionalism, collaboration, and leadership while representing Donna ISD at the state and national levels. Their success reflects the dedication of their instructors and the district’s commitment to high quality Career and Technical Education programs.
Donna ISD congratulates the Donna North Veterinary Science students, their teachers, and campus leadership on this outstanding achievement. Their National Championship and continued advocacy efforts highlight how student driven learning and service can create lasting impact for both students and the community they serve.

Donna ISD is excited to introduce Transfinder, a new transportation tool designed to give families greater peace of mind. This system will allow parents to track their child’s bus in real time, view estimated drop-off times, and stay informed for added safety and reliability.
Our Transportation Department is already underway installing the necessary equipment on buses and preparing systems to ensure a smooth rollout.
More details coming soon. Stay tuned as we continue strengthening student safety and communication across Donna ISD.

Attendance matters because you matter.
Every day a student is present builds learning, confidence, and connection. Showing up on time and every day helps students stay engaged, keep pace academically, and build habits that lead to long term success.
When students are here, they belong, they learn, and they thrive.
Let’s make every day count at Donna ISD.
