Elementary School

Prek 3-5th Grade Education

Our elementary schools offer exciting curricula that inspire our students to think creatively. Many of our elementary schools offer specialized programs for students interested in STEAM, robotics, sports and the fine arts. Our elementary schools are also deeply committed to fostering our students’ social-emotional needs. Elementary campuses throughout the district have implemented Capturing Kids’ Hearts character-based curriculum designed to create a positive and uplifting culture.

For parents looking to broaden their child’s linguistic horizons, Donna ISD offers a Dual Language Biliteracy model in which PreK-5th grade students learn to read and write in both English and Spanish in all core subjects. We also offer free after-school sports and fine arts activities. The "Restoring Elementary Athletics in Donna's Youth" (R.E.A.D.Y.) program allows students to participate in and learn about tennis, kickball/softball, cross country, flag football, basketball, soccer and volleyball.

The goal is to encourage physical activity and promote an active lifestyle at the elementary level. It also prepares students for the sport if they choose to participate in middle and high school. The "Arts Readiness Training in Elementary School" (A.R.T.E.S) enrichment program teaches students how to play musical instruments including 3 quarter, ukulele, drums, and xylophone. This  program helps to close the extensive participation and performance gap and better prepare students for the various fine arts programs offered at the secondary level.
