Donna ISD Superintendent Dr. Angela Dominguez Graduates from Prestigious Holdsworth Center Leadership Program
Donna Independent School District is proud to announce that Superintendent Dr. Angela Dominguez has graduated from The Holdsworth Center’s prestigious Superintendent Leadership Program. The certificates were presented on December 5, 2024, at the premier leadership institute in Austin, Texas, marking the conclusion of a transformative leadership journey spanning over a year.
Dr. Dominguez was one of only 9 superintendents statewide selected for this highly competitive program, which began in September 2023. Designed to support superintendents in their early years of service or those leading large districts, the program equips participants to navigate the unique challenges of superintendency with skill and confidence.
“I am truly honored to have been part of this extraordinary program,” said Dr. Dominguez, who is in her fourth year as superintendent of Donna ISD. “This experience has been invaluable in strengthening my leadership skills, and I’m excited to bring this knowledge back to our district to benefit our students, staff, and community.”
The program’s curriculum extends beyond core leadership principles, focusing on the high-stakes, high-impact responsibilities of superintendents. Areas of emphasis included:
· Leading with vision and strategy
· Effective communication
· Navigating the external landscape
· Building a high-performing executive team
As part of the program, participants attended learning sessions led by nationally recognized leadership development experts and received executive coaching from Superintendents-in-Residence. Dr. Dominguez expressed her gratitude for the mentorship of Dr. Arturo Cavazos, saying, “Dr. Cavazos has been an incredible guide throughout this process, helping me refine my skills and deepen my impact as a leader.”
This program equips superintendents to face challenges with resilience and create environments where students and staff can excel. “Leadership is about paving the way for others to succeed,” Dr. Dominguez said. “The lessons I’ve learned will help us build on the progress we’ve made at Donna ISD, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”
