Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Jessica Ybarra
Hey there! What’s going on students! First off I want to welcome you to 7th grade Science! I’mexcited to get this year started and for you to be a part of my class. I wish we could be meetingin person but we have to get used to the new “NORM”. However, whether it be online or inperson be ready to... LEARN, LEARN, LEARN!I started teaching in 2008, this will be my 13th year teaching at the middle schoollevel and all my years have been here at Sauceda. I started teaching 7th grade Science for 6years, moved up to 8th grade Science for 5 years, and last year was my first year back in 7thgrade (I forgot how much I loved 7th grade Science) I’ve had a couple of roles in my years hereat Sauced such as; team leader, 7th grade lead science teacher, haunted house facilitator, promcommittee facilitator and coach. Currently my roles are mom, teacher, and basketball, volleyballand softball (my true passion) coach.I have 2 wonderful kids, Khaleesi (7years old) and Eddric(6 years old) and one on the way. My kids are involved in sports so I keep pretty busy betweenwork and home life.I never thought I would be a teacher. I wanted to go to the Navy but after I hurt my knee I did notthink I would do well. Then I decided to major in law enforcement and I actually wanted to be astate trooper. I thought it was interesting but somehow realized I was much more interested inmy science courses, so I changed my major to physical therapy, then again to occupationaltherapy, then I got accepted to the Nursing program at STC. My second semester and almosthalfway done with the nursing program I realized that I did not want to be a nurse after all. So, Itook some time off from school to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I took a job at HEB,I worked there for about 7 years and moved up rather quickly to gas station manager. Again Ifound myself bored and decided I would try another line of work and applied as a Teacherassistant at Donna High school. This is where I finally found an interest and it was in teaching. After a long journey I graduated from the University of Texas Pan American (aka UTRGV) with aBachelors in Biology and a Minor in Kinesiology. I then applied for an emergency certificationprogram and applied for a teaching position at Sauceda. In 2018 I got my masters in Curriculumand Science Education. I plan to go back to school and get my principal ship or become anathletic director or coordinator, haven’t decided yet. With that being said. I look forward to spending the year with you and although Iknow it will be an adjustment for all of us I know we will get through this together. So sit back, buckle up and get ready for the LEARNING RIDE!
