Current state law requires a candidate for trustee of an independent school district to be a qualified voter by the time required by Election Code Section 141.001. An application for place on ballot (PDF) must be filed with the elections administrator at the DISD Business and Finance Office located at 116 North 10th Street, Donna, Texas. In a special election held by a school district, an application for a place on the special election ballot (PDF) must be filed with the elections administrator of the district.

Terms and Election Schedule:
Board members shall be elected for four-year terms, with elections conducted biennially, as follows:
Places 1, 2, 3, & 4: The election for places 1,2,3, & 4 will be held in 2024,2028,2032, and in four-year intervals, thereafter.
Places 5, 6, & 7: The election for places 5, 6, & 7 will be held in 2022,2026,2030, and in four-year intervals, thereafter.
