As of January 1, 2008, all applicants recommended for employment will be subject to the requirements of Senate Bill 9. This Bill is a comprehensive statute requiring various levels of criminal history review for different types of public employees, including:
All certified educators working in public schools who have not been previously fingerprinted
All non-certified public school employees
All substitute teachers
School Contractor employees who have direct contacts with students
Student teachers and volunteers, with certain exceptions
As of January 1, 2008, all non-certified employees will be subject to a national criminal history record check and will be required to be fingerprinted through the Department of Public Safety. Any applicant recommended for employment will be required to pay a $52.00 fee for the fingerprinting process. Payment must be made by using a credit card or prepaid debit card only. No other form of payment is accepted at this time.
